This Privacy Policy describes how the campaign committee John Cruikshank for RPV City Council 2026 (“the Campaign,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit www.johncruikshank.us or otherwise interact with us.This site is a political campaign website, not a commercial store. We collect only what we need to run the campaign, respond to supporters, and comply with California campaign-finance and privacy law.

When you use the contact form, call, email, or otherwise reach out, you may provide:

If we later add volunteer sign-up, event RSVP, petition, or donation tools, those forms may also collect mailing address, occupation/employer (required for certain California political contributions), and payment information processed by a third-party processor.   • Successors if the committee is reorganized or another authorized committee continues related political activity, only as permitted by law

We do not sell supporter lists as a commercial product. Political campaigns sometimes share or exchange supporter information with allied committees or organizations for political purposes. If we do that, we will do so only as allowed by applicable law.Public campaign-finance reports may include legally required contributor information (such as name, city, occupation, and employer for reportable donations). That reporting is required by California law and is not optional once a contribution meets reporting thresholds.


6. California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose  
  • Access a copy of personal information we hold about you  
  • Request deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions  
  • Correct inaccurate personal information  
  • Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under California law (including certain advertising/analytics uses)  
  • Limit use of sensitive personal information, if we collect it  
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights


How to submit a request:
Use the website contact form, call (424) 328-1028, or write to the campaign address above with the subject or attention line “California Privacy Request.” We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.Legal limits: We may retain information when necessary to complete a transaction you requested, detect security incidents, comply with campaign-finance and other legal recordkeeping rules, or exercise free-speech and political communication rights. Campaign-finance records often must be kept for a set period and cannot be deleted on request.


We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.


7. Political communications

If you give us your email or phone number, we may send campaign updates. You can opt out of future emails by using the unsubscribe link (if provided) or by contacting us. For texts, reply STOP if that option is offered, or contact us to be removed.


Opting out of marketing or update messages does not delete records we must keep for legal or operational reasons.


8. Donations

If you donate through a linked processor (for example, a campaign finance platform), that processor’s privacy policy also applies to payment data. We receive the contributor information needed for thank-you communications and legal reporting.Contributions are not tax-deductible for federal income-tax purposes.


9. Children’s privacy

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it as required by law.


10. Data security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate for a small campaign website. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.We keep information only as long as needed for campaign purposes and as required by California campaign-finance and other record-retention rules, then delete or de-identify it when those purposes and legal duties end.


11. Third-party links

The site may link to Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, news articles, or government pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.


12. Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. There is no uniform standard for responding to them. If we implement a recognized opt-out signal such as Global Privacy Control for “sale” or “sharing” under California law, we will treat it as a valid request for that purpose where required.


13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
